Description
Introduction: Healthcare providers, like all individuals, carry inherent biases that can influence their interactions with patients. While it may be challenging to completely eliminate bias, it is essential to strive for unbiased care in all healthcare settings. This study aims to explore the prevalence of bias in healthcare and identify strategies to mitigate its impact. Methods: A digital search will be conducted to identify relevant articles and studies published within the last 15 years that address bias in healthcare. Additionally, cases of patient-driven complaints alleging biased care by providers will be examined. Results: The findings from the literature review and case analysis will be presented to illustrate the prevalence of bias in healthcare and its potential consequences. Strategies for mitigating bias, such as implicit bias training and cultural competency education, will also be discussed. Discussion: The results of this study will highlight the importance of addressing bias in healthcare to ensure equitable and effective care for all patients. Recommendations will be provided to promote a more inclusive and culturally competent healthcare environment in all settings.
