Date & Time
Monday, February 12, 2024, 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Description

The Defense Health Agency (DHA) Clinical Investigations Program Office (CIPO) aims to improve the quality of health care for our active-duty service members and beneficiaries by generating an atmosphere of scientific inquiry, promoting an academic environment of high professional standing, and providing a means to assist in the accreditation of graduate medical education and other allied health training programs. CIPO upholds the mission of 19 DHA Military Treatment Facility (MTF) Clinical Investigations Programs (CIPs) to support the operational training and research requirements of 529 Graduate Health Science Education (GHSE) programs with over 10,000 trainees across an array of clinical specialties. A well-trained DHA workforce is essential for providing access to high-quality, high-value health care. CIPO supports the teaching hospital system to train our physician workforce and creates a learning environment with research and scholarly activities by the staff and GHSE trainees. Through innovative research, DHA healthcare providers have access to cutting edge treatment options thereby enhancing patient care and contributing to medical readiness solutions. It brings together innovations, experience, and teamwork to provide the best care – ‘Anytime, Anywhere — Always!’ CIPO maintains a research resources support page and provides personalized support to MTF CIP researchers. The goal is to help investigators navigate the DHA research process in the areas of surveys and questionnaires, animal and human research approvals, data use and access, funding, and contracting support. Further, each year CIPO hosts a Young Investigator Competition at the annual AMSUS meeting bringing together the best young researchers from MTF CIPs to compete for an award and recognition from DHA Senior Leaders. The competition is one way CIP meets its objective to encourage research by providing national level recognition showcasing the best of DHA young researchers.
