Description

The U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) Deputy Chief of Staff, Force Health Protection (DCS, FHP) and DCS, G-8/9 Readiness Analytics Directorate (RAD) continue coordination and collaboration in support of the MEDCOM transformation to readiness and the transformation of the Defense Health Agency (DHA) – Public Health (PH). This poster presentation is an update to the 2023 AMSUS Annual Meeting presentation “Integration of Army Public Health Metrics in Support of U.S. Army Medical Command Transformation to Readiness and Public Health Transition”. Since February of 2023, the DCS, FHP and the RAD progressed on PH metric reporting for transformation. The purpose of the Public Health Tableau™ Dashboard Reporting Project is to streamline metric reporting and respective update processes and provide enhanced visualizations for PH metrics currently displayed in the Army Strategic Management System. The team continues towards final publishing Iteration 1 of the PH metrics. Data and information for the PH metrics dashboard are obtained from 12 systems of records with the Department of Defense (DoD), DHA, and Department of the Army (DA); and 6 information sources/organizations from the DHA, DA, and a vendor agreement. Associated objectives include standardization of the facility/installation naming convention, addition of specific readiness data/visualizations, and customized mapping to U.S. Army Organizations and MEDCOM Medical Readiness Commands. The PH Metric reporting processes is streamlined, removing multiple touch points, with direct data exchanges from the DHA-PH Subject Matter Experts (SME) to the RAD PH Tableau lead. The RAD collaborates with DHA SMEs and the DCS, FHP to obtain additional readiness data elements to improve PH metric dashboard reporting for stakeholders. Developing a dovetail Tableau Leadership PH Metric Dashboard continues; this dashboard includes a comprehensive status on 10 PH readiness metrics presented in leadership forums. Technical expertise in Tableau programming is complimentary to communicating the methodology of completing this project. Relationships developed with the DCPH-A and DCS, FHP SMEs resulted in enhancement of communication lines to report additional requirements and any data concerns; SME metric risk concerns and discussions led to agreed-upon understandings of data interpretation/ presentation. Produced products include: sharing and presenting at leadership levels in the MEDCOM and Army organizations; and a weekly metric risk assessment status update that documents and communicates pertinent risks. Results include not only updated and streamline Tableau dashboards but incorporates timely products and benefits for U.S. Army leadership. The dashboard project includes development of a project plan that provides pertinent information, links to resources, and doubles as the foundation for the human protections process. From an operational planning perspective, requests for additional dashboards have been received, as well as identifying opportunities where dashboards can be leveraged to provide data outside of PH metric reporting for respective working groups. Iteration 2 efforts continue to be documented and prioritized. In conclusion, streamlining Army PH metric reporting with respective update processes and enhanced dashboard visualizations have been well received. Collaboration with other Army organizations continue to expand the reach of this project beyond the boundaries of PH metric monitoring and opened communication lines across organization levels.
