Description

It’s time to treat our work environments. Healthcare is facing a skilled labor crisis. Nurses are burnt-out, fatigued, and distressed. The VHA’s TeleCritical Care has implemented a virtual Hub and Spoke Model to help ICUs across the country connect to HRO principles, tools, ideologies and implement AACN’s HWE pillars. Working together supports and increased opportunities to receive positive feedback. Staff report higher confidence, improved teamwork, mutual trust, and demonstrate improved adherence to policies with a reduction in deviations from best practice. Centralizing and standardizing across a healthcare system reduces unwarranted variation and reduces cost of redundant work across facilities. This model allows shared expertise, networking, enhanced collaboration leading to improved outcomes, and facilitating improvement of standardization of care across multi-facility systems. Leveraging this alliance benefits nurses, patients, teams, hospitals and healthcare systems. We will share tips, tricks, and tools to improve morale, value and outcomes.
