Description

The DHA Oncology Clinical Community (OCC) is actively engaged with VA National Oncology Program leaders to extend the reach of collective cancer care services and access points through enhanced clinical cooperation and resource sharing. Presentation touches the need for intensive collaboration between SMEs from many specialties and disciplines; the prohibitive expense of oncology care when provided outside of the DHA or VA healthcare delivery systems; and the development of a focused resource sharing agreement to optimize access, quality, and cost between OCC and other DHA/VA and advance toward a functionally joint VA/DoD Oncology Network. Accomplished tasks and milestones (critical contacts, key considerations, obstacles navigated, lessons learned, etc.) will provide valuable insights for healthcare leaders aiming to optimize VA/DoD resource sharing and healthcare policy convergence in-line with Congressional intent.
