The United States Air Force Medical Service and nascent Air Force Medical Command (AFMEDCOM) play a pivotal role in maintaining the expeditionary medical readiness essential for military operations during competition and conflict. This brief will explore the multifaceted contributions of AFMEDCOM to the preparedness and effectiveness of Air and Space Force personnel in diverse and challenging environments. The presentation will provide an overview of AFMEDCOM’s comprehensive approach to ensuring that medical personnel are fit to deploy and capable of delivering high-quality care in any setting. This includes a new emphasis on combat-realistic training for Air-component unique medical force element and training, as well as the integration of advanced trauma training programs, such as the Centers for Sustainment of Trauma and Readiness Skills (C-STARS), which provide elite training to medical teams supporting joint forces. Additionally, the alignment of our most important medical readiness platform, the military treatment facility with operational combat wings enhances the readiness of warfighters and their families, highlighting how AFMEDCOM’s strategic positioning of medical facilities supports both routine healthcare and expeditionary readiness.
