MG Lynn most recently served as the Commanding General, Army Reserve Medical Command. Previous General Officer assignments include Commanding General for TF807th
MED under Army North (ARNORTH) during the nation’s first wave COVID response and Deputy Command General (Operations) at the 807th Medical Command (DS).
MG Lynn attended Vanderbilt University on a four-year ROTC scholarship, graduating in 1989 with a double major in electrical engineering and math. A Distinguished Military
Graduate, he was awarded a Regular Army Commission in the Field Artillery with subsequent assignment to the 24th Infantry Division (ID) in cannon battery fire direction officer and armor
company fire support officer positions. His service in the 24th ID took him to Georgia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq (Desert Shield/Storm), and through exercises at the National Training Center. After leaving active duty, MG Lynn began a career as an engineer, serving in the Individual Ready Reserve and the 20th Special Forces Group of the Alabama National Guard before deciding to attend medical school. Additional units of assignment have included the 7239th Installation Medical Support Unit, the 87th Army Reserve Support Command (East), and the Southeast Medical Area Readiness Support Group (SE-MARSG).
Dr. Lynn received his M.D. from the University of Alabama School of Medicine (UAB) and completed his radiology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he served two terms as chief resident. Following residency he completed his 2-year neuroradiology fellowship at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC which included military leave for mobilization rotations to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany and to Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, WA. Dr. Lynn is board certified (American Board of Radiology) and holds a “Certificate of Added Qualification” in Neuroradiology. He is a fellow in the American College of Radiology (FACR).
MG Lynn’s military education includes the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Cannon Battery Officer Courses, the 24th ID Chemical Course (honor graduate), the AMEDD Captain’s Career Course, the
Intermediate Level Education course (ILE, Command and General Staff College), the Army War College (Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies), the Army Medical Strategic Leadership Program (MSLP), and the U.S. Army Airborne School. He holds the Army Surgeon General’s “9A” proficiency designator recognizing the highest level of professional achievement in the Army Medical Corps. He is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3).
MG Lynn grew up as an Army dependent, living in numerous locations to include Heidelberg, Germany and the Marshall Islands. He and his wife, Virginia, have six children.
