This presentation will focus on themedical facets of identification\, comp rehensive assessment including focused history\,appropriate physical exami nation and diagnostic evaluation\, as well as treatmentrecommendations rel ated to AHI. We will outline how doctrine and training must be adapted toi ncorporate our understanding of this trauma in the appropriate notificatio n to the chain ofcommand and our flyaway teams for response to events. We will also highlight the need forstandardized scope of practice and assessm ent. In addition\, the presentation will focus oneducation of providers fr om the patient perspective with three cases presented directly by thepatie nt or a surrogate actor if the patient is unable to speak due to their inj uries.
