Dr. Joshua R. Duncan serves as the Assistant Dean for Assessment and an Assistant Professor of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU). His expertise focuses on learning analytics, clinical informatics, artificial intelligence, and data science.

In his role at USU, Dr. Duncan leads the modernization of medical education through data-driven assessment and technological innovation. He is a leader in applying AI to medical education, where he authors software, develops and sustains more than 30 analytics dashboards to support student learning, and leads faculty development on the responsible use of AI tools. He was also instrumental in launching the university's first Health Informatics and Information Sciences Certificate Program.

Dr. Duncan earned his B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wyoming, and his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health from USU. He completed residencies in Pediatrics and General Preventive Medicine and holds board certifications in Pediatrics, General Preventive Medicine, and Clinical Informatics. An active researcher, he has published scholarly articles and book chapters on topics including AI in medical education, informatics, and epidemiology.
