The AMSUS Scholarship program is funded by an endowment from TRIWEST Healthcare Alliance and honors Maj Gen Jerry Sanders, USAF, MC (Ret), former Vice President of Medical Affairs for TRIWEST Healthcare Alliance. Major General Sanders retired from the Air Force in 1991 as the Deputy Surgeon General. He is a Life member of AMSUS and a former member of the AMSUS Board of Directors.
The following criteria must be met for eligibility:
Applicant must be a current Individual or Life member of AMSUS OR an immediate family member (spouse, child or grandchild) of a current AMSUS member.
High school senior or graduate who plans to enroll, or students already enrolled, in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the upcoming academic year.
Academic careers can include medicine, dentistry, nursing, hospital administration, pharmacy, biomedical sciences, or veterinary medicine.
Students on HPSP Scholarship are not eligible.
Students selected to attend a military academy are not eligible.
