The 3rd Annual Military Women’s Health Research Symposium will delve into building a medically ready force through research, evidenced-based practice, and policy. The presentation will be divided into two sessions each focusing on how to shape a healthier future for military women. Part 1: The Foundation of Readiness This two-hour breakout session will explore the critical link between military women's health research and the development of a medically ready force. Led by a diverse group of experts, the session will bridge the gap between academic findings and clinical application. Dr. Lynette Hamlin will open the session, framing the imperative to translate research into actionable policy and practice. The agenda includes a deep dive into a recent scoping review with Colonel (retired) Dr. Candy Wilson, who will discuss the implications of their findings for clinical guidelines. Major Kathleen Pombier will then present a compelling case study on the successful implementation of an evidence-based policy in a military health setting. Part 2: Integrating Perspectives for a Healthier Force The session will conclude with a moderated panel discussion, led by Colonel (retired) Dr. Angela Simmons, featuring panelists Colonel Tanekkia Taylor-Clark, Dr. Kalyn Jannace, Commander Jody-Lynn Young, and Dr. Sally Haskell. The panel will offer unique perspectives on how to navigate the synergies and tensions between research, policy, and clinical practice to improve women's health outcomes and enhance readiness. Attendees will leave with actionable insights on how to integrate new knowledge into their daily work.
