The following statements have been provided to AMSUS for the 2025 AMSUS Annual Meeting:
United States Department of the Army: AMSUS, The Society of Federal Health Professionals, serves as a communication platform for the advancement of health professionals in all federal health agencies, as well as other nations. US Army Soldiers and employees may attend this non-DOD sponsored conference if approved in accordance with the policies and procedures established by AR 1-50, Army Conference Policy, Federal Travel Regulations and Army travel policies. Approving officials may approve and fund only those requests that are demonstrably beneficial to the Army and appropriately related to attendees’ official duties; cost-effective; and in the best interests of the Army, the U.S. Government, and taxpayers.
United States Department of the Navy: AMSUS, The Society of Federal Health Professionals, serves as a communication platform for the advancement of health professionals in all federal health agencies, as well as other nations. US Navy employees may attend a non-Federally sponsored external conference if approved by their chain of command. Approving officials must continue to exercise discretion and judgment in ensuring all conference expenses are appropriate, necessary, and managed in a prudent manner in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations, and current Navy Medicine travel guidance.
United States Department of the Air Force: AMSUS, The Society of Federal Health Professionals, serves as a communication platform for the advancement of health professionals in all federal health agencies, as well as other nations. US Air Force and Space Force employees may attend a non-Federally sponsored conference if approved by their chain of command. Approving officials must continue to exercise discretion and judgment in ensuring all conference expenses are appropriate, necessary, and managed in a prudent manner in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations, and current Air Force Medical Service travel guidance. Local participants may attend with their immediate supervisor’s permission so long as there is an acceptable level of impact on unit mission.
Defense Health Agency (DHA): The 2025 AMSUS Annual Meeting provides a venue for advancing healthcare knowledge and a communication platform for health professionals in all federal health agencies, as well as other nations. Defense Health Agency (DHA) military and civilian personnel may attend this non-DOD sponsored conference if approved in accordance with the policies and procedures established by Joint Travel Regulation and DoD/DHA conference travel policies. Approving officials may approve and fund only those requests that are demonstrably beneficial to the DoD/DHA and appropriately related to attendees’ official duties; cost-effective; and in the best interests of the DoD/DHA, the U.S. Government, and taxpayers.
Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS): The 2025 AMSUS Annual Meeting provides a venue for advancing healthcare knowledge and a communication platform for health professionals in all federal health agencies, as well as other nations. USUHS military and civilian personnel may attend this non-DOD sponsored conference if approved in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Joint Travel Regulation and DoD/USUHS conference travel policies. Approving officials may approve and fund only those requests that are demonstrably beneficial to the DoD/USUHS and appropriately related to attendees’ official duties; cost-effective; and in the best interests of the DoD/USUHS, the U.S. Government, and taxpayers.
U.S. Public Health Service: AMSUS, The Society of Federal Health Professionals, is a member-based association providing education and professional development opportunities in support of federal health leaders, federal health professionals, across the world. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) strongly encourages United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps Officer (PHS Officer) participation in this annual educational conference. PHS officers may attend a non-Federally sponsored external conference if approved by their respective agency chain of command or while in an official leave status. USPHS respective HHS agency and non-HHS agency approving officials must exercise discretion and judgment in ensuring all conference expenses are appropriate, necessary, and managed in a prudent manner in accordance with the agencies’ travel regulations, and current agencies’ travel guidance.
United States Department of Veterans Affairs: VA highly encourages Veterans Health Administration (VHA) staff participation in this annual educational conference. AMSUS (The Society of Federal Health Professionals) serves as a communication platform for the advancement of health professionals in all federal health agencies, as well as other nations. VHA employees may attend a non-Federally sponsored external conference if approved by their VHA supervisory chain. VHA approving officials must continue to exercise discretion and judgment in ensuring all conference expenses are appropriate, necessary, and managed in a prudent manner in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations, Vol XIV Travel Policy, and Volume XVI Chapter 1, Government Purchase Card Program and current VHA travel guidance.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS): As health threats have evolved over the last 20 years, DHS remains committed to safeguarding the American people, our homeland, and our values. The world today is more interconnected than at any time in history, which creates new challenges for the health and security of the American people and our federal workforce. The DHS Office of Health Security (OHS) is the principal medical, workforce health and safety, and public health authority for DHS and serves as the lead touchpoint for AMSUS. The 2025 AMSUS Annual Meeting is an ideal opportunity for DHS to engage in interagency and industry dialogue of best practices and coordination of health security events. DHS personnel may attend this conference if approved by their supervisors and within the travel and expense policies, procedures, and guidelines of their component.
